Description

The relationship of regional geology to the types of placer deposits (with emphasis on epithermal deposits forming eluvial placers and how to metal detect them.)

Meteorites - Mining Districts - Gossans - Laterities

Jim Straight has been involved in some form of prospecting for over half a century.

Jim found his first detected nugget on a hardrock mine dump near Tonopah, Nevada. For the last fifteen years he has metal detected both desert dryplacer areas and hardrock gold mines.
He is a 1954 graduate of the Mackay School of Mines, University of Nevada. Jim has a B.S. degree in Geological Engineering and has completed post graduate classes in Mining.

"ADVANCED Prospecting & Detecting for Hardrock Gold" has been written especially for the serious student who is self-committed and willing to study and become more knowledgeable. This booklet is not a simple course in "Introduction to Nuggetshooting 101." Instead, it is meant to be "Advanced Nuggetshooting 421" and is intended to be semi-technical. It will lead the serious detectorist, who is determined to find gold nuggets, along a learning path by introducing little-known technical aspects and correct terminology.

Explanations, references, illustrations, charts, tables, and a glossary round out the basic information. Emphasis is placed on epithermal deposits that have formed eluvial placers, "how to" detect them for gold nuggets, and "how to" understand the relationship of regional geology to the types of placer deposits.
